Opportunity- Birds poop and bug splatters always appear on your vehicle when you least expect it and when you do see them, you’re always busy.
· Who- People who are busy and drives a motor vehicle.
· What- Bird poop and bug splatters being on their vehicles.
· Why- They’re on the car because busy people don’t have time at that moment to clean it up.
Hypothesis
· Testing the who- There are more than 200 million motor vehicles registered in the USA alone, so there is bound to be a market for these wipes that clean off bird poop/bug splatter on the go.
· Test the what- The technology is already there for cleaning cars, so I’d just need to figure out how to package it to the size of an alcohol swab. But if done, busy people will be able to clean up dirty areas on their cars on the fly.
· Testing the why- Not everyone will want this even though they have a motor vehicle. People who want it will care about the condition of their vehicles and live a convenient life.
Interview 1- Aidan Q.
Aidan was interested in this product, he basically wanted to know what chemicals are used and always hates it when there is bird poop on his car, and he cannot clean it off.
Interview 2- Merrick R.
Merrick was slightly skeptical of this product but was still interested in it. He didn’t know if he would actually spend money on it unless he got like a sample and see if it works or not.
Interview 3- Bianca S.
Liked the idea of the product but was reluctant of the thought of actually buying the product. Said is useful in the moment thing but once you’re not busy you can just get a wet paper towel and clean it up. But she does like the idea if she’s especially busy and doesn’t have time to wash her car.
Interview 4- Karissa H.
Karissa doesn’t particularly like the idea of this product. From what she said, why go out of your way to buy something like this when you can just pay like $5 to get a car wash and clean your whole car.
Interview 5- Kailey W.
Kailey was also skeptical of the idea but when I asked why, she said, “I already have an unlimited car wash pass, so me going out of my way to buy wipes is redundant when I can just get a car wash that cleans everything.
Summary
I asked many different people for their opinions and I got mixed reviews, some were positive and liked my idea while others were pretty skeptical of it and brushed my idea aside. From what I gathered, I believe this idea isn’t as feasible and I would probably lose money if I were to pursue it.
Hello David,
ReplyDeleteI really like your opportunity. I found it interesting that you had such a wide range of responses in your interviews. Since many of the people you interviewed were skeptical toward the opportunity, I think your summary discussed a realistic conclusion that you may lose money over the idea. I personally would buy the product for my car, however prototypical customer opinions reflect the success of the opportunity well.
Hello David,
ReplyDeleteI can see where you idea can come in handy, especially living in florida during the love bug season in May. I personally got very frustrated when bugs would get stuck on my car even after I washed it hours before. The product you came up with would be very useful to a certain extent, as noted by some of your interviews.
David,
ReplyDeleteI am impressed by this post. This idea seems like it could be very handy. I think the wipes could even be useful for other things such as wiping dead bugs off the front of a car. I think your summary was very reflective and showed how useful these interviews were for you. This post could be improved by added a little more details to the assignment.
Hi David, your opportunity seems like something everyone can relate to. Especially dealing with love bug season! My one critique on your post would have to be making your interviews a little lengthier and more in detail in your post. I do feel like you who, what and why are accurate and I hope you can come up with a solution!
ReplyDeleteHi David!
ReplyDeleteThanks for incorporating a range of individuals in your research about the bird and bug splatters on individuals vehicles. I like how you took the approach of finding the problem, defining what that problem is, and search for responses of those you found in your research. Great Job
Kaitlin
David,
ReplyDeleteI am from Miami and I had to drive back and forth from Miami to Gainesville as I was moving and visiting over the Summer and I can tell you the issue with bugs splattering all over your car during a long trip is real! This product can be a great idea and with the right people behind it going after the right target audience I think it can do very well.
Hello David, I think the best way to approach this product when it comes to sales would be to try out a subscription that delivers a certain amount of wipes and swabs per month for a certain price. This would indubitably generate more sales than putting it in a few retailers. A subscription would encourage people who travel on the highway often to actually use the product.
ReplyDeleteDavid,
ReplyDeleteI agree that there is an annoyance of bird poop and bugs on vehicles. I experience it a lot because I have to drive four hours south to go home. The product would definitely help during love bug season because those things are everywhere. Now if you can find a way to take some of the chemical from dryer sheets, that'll be a great base for your wipes. How I usually tackle bug spots is by watering a dryer sheet and scrubbing the bug stain.
Hi David!
ReplyDeleteWhere I work, there's birds constantly in the parking lot so this issue is something I actually face weekly because my car is there 8 hours a day! Another thing to think about is love bug season, I'd imagine this would also be a solution for that and being in Florida, it's something we all have to go through and it'd be cool to have an easy solution!
Hey David, birds pooping on cars and leaving stains has always been a big problem and I think that if the technology could be developed your idea would be highly effective. Having a cloth in your car that you could use immediately after getting a stain and cleaning it would be great for the average consumer. People like my dad hate leaving stains like that on their car for a long period of time for fear of stripping the paint.
