Idea Napkin No. 2

1. My name is David Wu and I am currently a first year business management student at UF. I don't really know if I have any aspirations right now but a good skill of mine is being able to convince people to buy a product. If I were to start a business, it would have to be something I can do on the side like a passion. I wouldn't really risk a decently paying job if it came down to it unless I know I will succeed. Like I would have a regular 9-5 job but maybe on the weekends I would pursue my business venture.

2. What I am offering to my customers is a car wipe that is meant to wipe off bird poop and or bug splatters on the spot. For example, if you have a few splatters of lovebugs on your car, you don't have to go to the car wash or manually wash your car in the heat. Instead you just rip open the package, let it rest on the stain for 5-10 seconds, and then wipe.

3. The common denominator for my customers is that they like keeping the quality of their car high. But if I were to be specific, I am trying to target people between the ages of 16-28. I don't particularly care about their race, ethnicity, or gender. As long as they like their car being clean that is all that matters.

4. I believe my potential customers will care for my product is because of the fact they want to keep their car clean and if it is reasonable priced and they get a decent portion they will buy the product. Like if I were to give the quantity and price amount, I would sell a box of 50-75 wipes for about $10 to $15.

5. What I believe that sets me apart from everyone else is simplicity and originality. My product is simple enough where it can be cheaply manufactured and it isn't too complicated. And originality because I don't believe to my knowledge that this product exists on the market which is great.

Feedback Memo- The feedback I received from the first idea napkin was that why would people buy my product when they can just use a paper towel and soap. My answer to that is people don't always have access to it when they are busy and on the move. For example, someone I interviewed said their car gets dirty when they're not at home. So my product would fulfill their need because my product is a "on the go" wipe for a car.

  1. Hi David!

I love that you are focused on the simplicity of your product. That is what sells! I do believe there is a market for your product. With the product being small, you are able to have it at pos spots right by registers! That is a sweet spot. Your profit margin is gold.

If interested, here's my napkin 2:

  2. Hi David, I think this idea napkin from your first has changed, but in a good way. I like how you've answered the question about people using paper towels and soap.. I think your product would have better chemicals and cleaning detergents made specifically for cars. A 9-5 job is something a lot of people are comfortable and happy with, and if that's what you want to do, go for it!

  3. Hi David!
I believe you when you say that a skill of yours is convincing other people to buy a product. You did a good job of offering reasons for why customers should be interested in your product by outlining the simplicity and effectiveness of it. People do not like getting their car dirty but they also do not like taking the time to wash it. Your product offers an easy alternative that takes care of a dirty spot when it occurs. Great idea and delivery!

  4. What’s Up David,
As always, I really enjoyed reading your post. One thing I can say about your first section is that being able to be persuasive in business is one of the strongest characteristics to have. I have taken a lot of business courses and one of the exercises they use is to be able to sell someone on almost anything and if you can do that you can be successful.
